The United States desires for more steady and profitable dealings with Russia, but if the latter stays to “attack”, then Washington will answer, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a newspaper interview publicized on Tuesday.

If Russia go along to attack us, or to act as it did with the Solar Wind attacks, the encroachments into our elections and the armed combat against Navally, then we will respond,” he told Italian daily La Repubblica.

Blinken — who was in Rome for a merging of international efforts to battle Islamist militia — was mentioning to cyberattacks and the role of jailed Kremlin critic Alexie Navalny.

In the first place this month, U.S. President Joe Biden told Russian President Vladimir Putin at a summit in Geneva that certain supercritical infrastructure should be “restricted” to cyber attacks.

China was “the most complexed” when it came to relations Blinken added, but alleged the United States honored the different relations countries had with China and that it would not ask any of them to choose between the two countries.

It is, however, true that when we make out with China — as an opponent, a challenger, or a partner — we are much more effective if we act together,” he added.

Blinken also alleged that Italy had made important efforts in enrolling legislation to shoot for at protecting its 5G network from “unreliable sellers” and that it should continue to behave out checks should investments from other countries make it.

The United States has buttonholed Italy and other European allies to deflect using equipment made by Huawei in their next- generation networks, alleging the Chinese company could represent a security risk. Huawei has disapproved the charges.
