On Tuesday, Japan's prime minister, Fumio Kishida, announced an emergency relief package of JPY13.2 trillion that will help households and companies relieve the stress from the increased fuel and raw material costs.

     The additional key points are:

·        In the current 2022 financial year budget, the government will tap some of the reserves for fresh funding and projects.

·        By June, we will have designed a new action plan to promote the style of capitalism and establish long-term fiscal and economic policy guidelines.

·        We will produce an extra budget in the current parliament session and aim to pass it.

·        We will stress the importance of promoting the use of nuclear power and renewable energy to stabilise the energy market.

·        Following the upper house elections, we will develop a comprehensive package of energy policies and promote social change in Japan.
